t.i.t.s. = time in the saddle and I, my friends, need more of it !
I rode outside today for the first time since I raced, erm, completed Savageman September 08. I've spent a decent amount of time in the trainer but nothing compares to riding outside.
the plan was to ride the Columbia course twice.
then the plan was to ride Columbia once and the Irongirl course once.
and then ... riding Columbia - once - was enough.
it's no Savageman, but it's a tough ride:
considering that I haven't ridden outside in 6+ months I'm happy with my ride. An older guy drafted off of me for one of the early hills and thanked me for it. hey, no problem buddy, glad to help!
I used Infinit for the first time today and was pleased with it. No GI issues and it went down well. I need to practice drinking while riding - anyone have any tips? My bike has a small frame so the water bottles are jammed in there and they are hard to get out.
[and next week I will ride that course ^^ 2x !... or at least that 1x and IG 1x]
I usually drink when I am thirsty. Some people will set their watch to go off on even increments to remind and force them to drink (and eat).....its just one of those trial and error things that is specific to YOU. Also you have to find that balance of drinking enough vs having to take a nature break every 5 mins. Experiment!!!
ReplyDeleteAt least you got out.
ReplyDeleteI drink according to the watch. Every 15 minutes. Water with my food, gatorade alone.
I have two cages on my frame, and a double behind my seat. That's 4 waterbottles, usually enough for a 4 hour ride.
Whwn I trained for IM and needed to ride longer, I mixed a supersoluton of Gatorade, and then planned my ride so I could stop and top off one bottle at a gas station or something.
If I have to stop to get at my bottle, I stop.
I also always carry a 5 dollar bill, just in case.
Nice tits!!! LOL
ReplyDeleteI don't have tips on drinking, I always have to slow down a lot to get my bottle out when I'm riding.
THANK YOU! <3. But I bet your photos don't keep getting bigger. This time I wore black - we'll see! That run, above - tits - this is no savageman??? R U Kidding me??? Savage is worse?
ReplyDeleteYES! Get a profile design aero bottle, works great and you can keep your hands on the bike.
ReplyDeleteI did race Lone Star but I got a flat. I was going about 25 mph on the bike, the fastest I've ever done until but then lost 10-15 minutes then the support crew switched wheels and then I just cruised in on the run. 18th oa, 2:17.54, at best maybe 5th oa, I haven't looked at the results ind etail yet just glanced.
Cheers! Thanks for reading my page. talk to ya soon.
I carry some money with me too. I can't believe I never heard the term TITS before, perfect. I need some tits, getting some tits this weekend. I luvs it.
ReplyDeletehumm...with that blog title I didn't know what to expect Trish :-)My wife likes the aero profile bottle for the long bike ride! b
ReplyDeleteHmmm...I could really use some TITS, too!! I use a Profile Design aero bottle, plus one bottle on the bike.
ReplyDeleteI'm a 50/50, Gatorade/Water guy myself. Is Infinit the company where you can "create" your own mix?
ReplyDeleteAs far as drinking on the bike maybe you should look into some "hands-free" systems. FSA just released a hydration system that sits underneath your aero bars, it's pretty sweet looking...
I had not tried Infinit before and was too scared to try it on race day on the bike. I really wish I had. I eventually tried it on the run and it was awesome. My cytomax went off in the heat and tasted REVOLTING, it has put me off that for life (or at least the Apple flavour).
ReplyDeleteI also battled drinking on the bike, but have found practise, practise, practise. One of my friends used the profile bottle and that worked for her.
Even after my race I am going to say that for the next one I am also need much more TITS!!!! I stuck to the program BT 20Week, but it is my weakest and think I will do a LOT more next time..
